King Rooter & Plumbing, a NuFlow Certified Contractor, utilized innovative trenchless technologies—NuDrain CIPP and NuCure CCUV—to rehabilitate cast-iron piping at a busy restaurant without causing a shutdown. With no access to the pipes and limited work hours, the team overcame significant challenges, delivering a fast, non-invasive solution that kept the restaurant open and operational throughout the repair.
King Rooter & Plumbing, a NuFlow Certified Contractor in Colorado, was contacted by a high-profile restaurant after water was found pouring into the garage beneath the establishment. The issue was critical, with the management company considering shutting down the restaurant to prevent further damage. The client needed a quick, non-invasive solution to address the failing pipes while maintaining normal operations.
Upon investigation, King Rooter & Plumbing discovered that the cast-iron pipes had been improperly installed causing breaks and offset joints in the pipe layout. The pipes were laid on the concrete floor with upside-down hangers and encased in foam before the concrete was poured, trapping the pipes between two floors with minimal access. This challenging layout, combined with the restaurant’s operational hours, created significant obstacles. The restaurant allowed only a narrow work window—from 6 AM to 11 AM—requiring the team to complete the repairs quickly and precisely without disrupting business.
King Rooter & Plumbing utilized NuFlow’s NuDrain CIPP system and NuCure CCUV (Cold Cure UV) technology to tackle the complex pipe rehabilitation. NuDrain CIPP, a trenchless pipe repair solution, creates a new pipe within the existing damaged one by inserting a flexible, resin-saturated liner through existing access points. The pull-in-place installation method was ideal for the small-diameter pipes (ranging from 2 to 4 inches), allowing the team to navigate the intricate layout of both the sanitary and grease lines with precision. As part of the NuDrain process, connection collars were installed at all pipe joints, ensuring a complete and durable system rehabilitation.
For separate sections of the pipe, NuCure CCUV technology was employed, offering rapid 10-minute curing times. This cold-cure UV system is highly effective for small-diameter pipes, providing quick results without the need for heat—crucial given the limited working hours. By combining these technologies, the contractor successfully rehabilitated approximately 160 feet of piping, including secondary branches and wye fittings, delivering a full and efficient repair while keeping the restaurant operational throughout the project.
The project was completed within the allotted time each day, and after extensive testing with water flowing through the system, it was confirmed that the issue was fully resolved. The full rehabilitation of the pipes provides long-term reliability, ensuring the restaurant could avoid any further disruptions. The client expressed satisfaction with the quick, non-disruptive process, grateful that their business remained unaffected throughout the repair.
This project showcased King Rooter & Plumbing’s expertise, leveraging NuFlow’s innovative trenchless pipe repair solutions—NuDrain CIPP and NuCure CCUV technology—to successfully address complex pipe rehabilitation challenges, all while minimizing downtime and disruption to the client’s operations.
